Rolls-Royce wins $9.2 billion engine order from Emirates for A380s

LONDON (Reuters) – Rolls-Royce mentioned it had gained a $ 9.2 billion order to provide engines for 50 A380 plane for Dubai’s Emirates airline [EMIRA.UL], offering a lift for the British company after a torrid year of profit warnings.
It’s The first time the Gulf service has ordered Rolls-Royce engines for its superjumbo fleet, the remainder of which is powered by Engine Alliance, a joint venture of Common Electric (GE.N) and Pratt & Whitney (UTX.N).
The deal was once confirmation that of what sources had instructed Reuters on Thursday.
The contract includes a lengthy-time period “Totalcare” bundle, which means Rolls-Royce will even provide service and maintenance to Emirates for the Trent 900 engines.
