EU’s Juncker sees ‘great risk’ to migrant deal with Turkey: paper

ZURICH European Fee President Jean-Claude Juncker is concerned that a deal struck with Turkey in March on dealing with a wave of migrants bound for Europe could crumple, he instructed an Austrian newspaper.

“The Risk is excellent. The success of the % so far is fragile. (Turkish) President (Tayyip) Erdogan has a couple of instances hinted he wants to terminate the agreement,” Juncker instructed Kurier when requested if the percent could disintegrate.

If that happened, “then which you could expect that again refugees are standing on the gates of Europe,” he introduced in an interview revealed on Saturday.

Turkey has thus far lived up to its side of the landmark deal with Brussels to stop unlawful migration to Europe by means of its shores, in return for monetary aid, the promise of visa-free go back and forth to a lot of the bloc and accelerated talks on membership.

But Ankara has complained Europe is just not living up to its aspect of the accord and has alarmed Ecu leaders via cracking down on Erdogan’s opponents, particularly in the wake of a failed coup on July 15-16.
