the great Barrier Reef has been snubbed inside the Lonely Planet’s report of top dive spots but a long way off caves underneath the Nullarbor Plain in Western Australia have made the grade.

The Commute author launched its checklist of the best possible 10 world dive websites this week, with the nice Blue Hole in Belize casting off the highest spot.

Diving at Cocklebiddy Cave, a chain of caves about 1200 kilometres east of Perth, came in at number 9, ahead of exploring Greenpeace’s wrecked Rainbow Warrior ship which was once bombed through the use of French spies in 1985 in Auckland Harbour.

Affiliation of Marine Park Tourism Operators boss Col McKenzie says Lonely Planet can have excluded the great Barrier Reef to create controversy.
