Racist threats against Latinos at Cal State Long Beach investigated

Sept. 23 (UPI) — The FBI and University police are investigating racist demise threats and anti-Semitic posts made against Student teams at Cal State Lengthy Seashore this week.

Anonymous posters on Facebook threatened to shoot members of the school’s La Raza Pupil Association, a Latino Pupil staff. Fliers with the picture of Adolf Hitler and the message “end what he started” have been hung in the faculty’s multicultural Center, as smartly.

Cal State Long Seashore President Jane Close Conoley mentioned in an e mail to college students and team of workers that University police notified the FBI, which is “aggressively investigating” the threats.

“I Am saddened to file this to you,” Conoley wrote, “but I Need you to grasp that each and every incident reflecting intolerance and hate is being pronounced to the FBI and is receiving priority attention from University police.”

College police Lt. Richard Goodwin told the scholar newspaper the Daily 49er the division was treating the incident as a “terrorist risk” and is working with federal legislation enforcement to establish those responsible.

“The Rest that may be taken as a terrorist danger, we involve our fellow agencies,” Goodwin said. “We Would are looking for their data in regards to this to look if they’ve, for example, an individual that we have been looking at in a specific case.”

He additionally mentioned the University had stationed officers outside the La Raza Student Heart constructing.

The Nazi-themed fliers have appeared on campus periodically over the previous six months, however the direct danger to La Raza used to be made on Wednesday. A University spokeswoman informed the la Times investigators don’t believe the two are associated.
